Artist Bio

​

Bonnie Smart is a Calgarian who is currently enrolled as a fourth-year student at the Alberta University of the Arts, majoring in the Media Arts Interactivity stream. She is completing an artist residency/internship with the Calgary Arts Academy middle school campus - working alongside the Year 6/7 staff and students. She holds an Architectural Technologist Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, specializing in Building Design Technology. She spent five years working in commercial, retail, and theatrical sculpting; and equally as much time as a technologist -drafting, estimating and coordinating a variety of residential, commercial and landscaping construction projects.

Smart has recently been exploring large scale soft sculpture with metal armature/components - a combination of craft and new media.
